He acknowledges receipt of a letter dated 17 Jan announcing the arrival of Mr Theodor Hartweg in Tepic, and thanks them on behalf of the council for their assistance to Hartweg; thinking Mexico City [Mexico] is too far away from the north for Hartweg to receive money, and he asks them to give him advances in such a case for £250, in addition to the credit of £400 from Messrs Manning & Mackintosh
