Mr Theodor Hartweg wrote from Tepic [Mexico] on 12 Mar saying that he had dispatched two plant boxes, marked HS5-6, to the care of Messrs H.J. Blume & Co in Guadalajara [Mexico], to be forwarded to Tampico; at the same time he sent Captain Chappell's [Edward Chappell, secretary of the Royal Mail Steam Packet Company] letter, dated 26 Sep, to ask for their assistance; two steamers have since arrived at Southampton, but without any news of the boxes; if they know anything about them, they should be forwarded by a Royal Mail steamer, with any expenses reimbursed
