Annotated on top of the first page 'per Thames' in the same hand as the letter
A box of seeds was sent on 'the present steamer' at the request of Messrs Manning & Mackintosh of Mexico [Mexico City, Mexico], from whom it was received last March, 'with instructions to hold it at the disposal of Mr Theodor Hartweg, which is the cause of the delay'
Annotated in pencil at the foot of the page in another hand: 'The receipt sent to Southampton 5 Nov. T.E. [Thomas Edgar]'
