The ship is about to sail from Tenerife after three days there; he has collected some plants for drying, but no living ones, not being able to forward them directly from there; since Mr Betencourt [Nicolas Betencourt, Horticultural Society correspondent in Tenerife] was away at Grand Canary [Gran Canaria, Spain], he left the letter for him with the vice-consul [John Duplan, British vice-consul in Tenerife, Spain], who was very kind, and assisted Forbes; he has found a new correspondent for the Society in Mr Lorenzo Pastor [Lorenzo Pastor Castro, British merchant at Tenerife, Spain], 'an intelligent gentleman resident here', well acquainted with botany and natural history; Sabine will receive a letter from William Owen [William FitzWilliam Owen, captain of HMS Leven] along with Pastor's letter; he has collected insects, but has not found many birds, however Pastor has promised to send any he is able to procure
