The ship is about to sail and as he has not yet received the 'pins' for Sacramento [Leandro do Sacramento, Carmelite friar and botanist in Brazil], he has left orders at Portsmouth for them to be forwarded to Plymouth; he received the letter from Earl Henry Bathurst [Henry Bathurst, 3rd earl of Bathurst, British secretary of state for war and colonies] to Lord Charles Somerset [Charles Henry Somerset, governor of the Cape Colony, South Africa]
