Unmounted medium format colour slide of photographer and alpine expert Valerie Finnis (1924-2006) with her husband diplomat and plantsman Sir David Scott (1887-1986), weeding at the Dower House (Boughton House). Their pug Kate can be seen in the centre. Ink inscription on sleeve on recto: 'Sir David Lady Scott weeding pup dog Kate –Dower House garden'; '58'; 'David & Valerie weeding at home Boughton'; '355'. Address supplied. Full name: Sir David John Montagu Douglas Scott. After her marriage to Sir David Scott, Valerie was also known as Lady Montagu Douglas Scott. Valerie Finnis married David Scott in 1970 and moved into his home, the Dower House, part of Boughton House and one of the seats of the Duke of Buccleuch. Finnis lived at the Dower House after Sir David's death in 1986 until her own death in 2006
