Black and white engraved plate depicting Osterly Park in Isleworth, Middlesex. During the late 17th century, the house was owned by the Child family, who were prominent bankers during the 'financial revolution' of the late 17th century. The family collected works of art from around the world, employing the Scottish architect, Robert Adam in 1761 to remodel the house. The house can be seen in the background of the engraving, with a sailing boat on the river in front of the house and cattle grazing under trees. The book plate bears the imprints 'Publish'd as the Act directs April 1st. 1785, by W.Watts, Chelsea' and 'W. Watts, del: et Sculp'. From the book 'The seats of the nobility and gentry' by William Watts
