Black and white engraved plate depicting Mount Stuart House on the Isle of Bute. The original house was built for James Stuart the 2nd Earl of Bute, but was rebuilt for John Patrick Crichton-Stuart the 3rd Marquess of Bute following a fire in 1877. The house can be seen in the background of the engraving surrounded by sea, with agricultural workers in the foreground. The book plate bears the imprints 'Publish'd as the Act directs Sep. 1st. 1785, by W.Watts, Chelsea', 'Stewart, pinxt. Callander, delt' and 'W. Watts, sculpt.'.
