James Veitch (1815-1869) was an English horticulturist, and the head of the family nursery business, James Veitch & Sons in Chelsea, London (which moved from Exeter, Devon in 1853). He was a member of the RHS Council from 1856-1864. The Veitch Memorial Medal was founded in his honour in 1870. He was the father of Sir Harry James Veitch..
