W.C.'Enclosed with the carte de visite is a piece of paper with the inscription 'Yours faithfully John O Westwood'; the signature of John Obadiah Westwood'. John Obadiah Westwood (1805-1893) was an English entomolgist and archaeologist. He was a Fellow of the Linnean Society and President of the Entomological Society of London between 1852-1853. He assisted James Rennie in the editing of Gilbert White's 'The Natural History and Antiquities of Selborne' in 1833.
