Fort Hill, Margate. Established 1858.'. George Paul (1841-1921) ran his own nursery, The Old Nurseries, Cheshunt, which specialised in roses. He contributed to the Rosarian's Year Book and other magazines. He was a member of the RHS Council from 1887 to 1893, and a longstanding member of the RHS Floral Committee. In 1897 he was one of the original 60 recipients of the Victoria Medal of Honour. He was the nephew of William Paul, the Waltham Cross nurseryman.
