Unmounted medium format colour slide of photographer and alpine expert Valerie Finnis (1924-2006) with her husband Sir David Scott (1887-1986), also a keen plantsman and former diplomat. They are visiting a London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) steam locomotive class 6233 Duchess of Sutherland. Ink inscription on sleeve on recto: 'Alan Bloom'; '427'. Address supplied. Full name: Sir David John Montagu Douglas Scott. After her marriage to Sir David Scott, Valerie was also known as Lady Montagu Douglas Scott. Two other people are obscured, one of them could be Alan Bloom who was a steam engine enthusiast
