He encloses a copy of instructions [for Theodor Hartweg] and a map of Guatemala [enclosures not present]; Mr Edgar [Thomas Edgar, treasurer of the Horticultural Society of London] sent a letter saying that the Guatemala agent in London, John N. Wright would advise Messrs Pedro & Ignacio de Aycinena [merchants in Guatemala] to receive Hartweg's packages and letters, to forward them to Messrs Wright & Nicholson [merchants] at Belize and then to England; they have written to Messrs Wright & Nicholson to ask them to open a credit for Hartweg for £500: 'they are also informed of the resolution of the Council refusing to take cognizance of any bills or demands whatever that do not bear the signatures of one or other of the firms with whom the credits are opened'; Hartweg should write to Messrs Aycinena when he arrives at Guatemala to inform them of his route and the places where he will enquire for letters; he should forward to them any packages of 'convenient size' as frequently as possible; he encloses a map of Central America 'with a list of the stations on the two roads to Guatemala' [enclosure not present]
