He encloses a duplicate of a letter sent to Hartweg on 30 Aug care of Messrs Skinner & Co [Messrs Klee, Skinner & Co, merchants in Guatemala]; Hartweg's last letter said he had not yet made arrangements to proceed to Guatemala, but they hope his next letter will be written en route; boxes 27-32 arrived, but many of the plants were dead; Tillandsia seems to be the best packing material; the Orchidea bulbs should not be cut off their rhizomes; he wants to know where the Chinantla [Mexico] is, as they cannot find it on the maps
