He proposes the company requests dispatch of Hartweg's boxes via a French ship of the squadron lying off Tampico [Mexico], as they have not yet received any of Mr Hartweg's [Theodor Hartweg] boxes; 'the officers of this nation are remarkable for their willingness to promote all objects of science' and as British merchants they ought to be able to convey the importance of the task due to the perishable and valuable nature of the cases; they should approach in a boat with a 'flag of truce' to avoid danger; any costs will be reimbursed during this 'experiment'; Messrs Vilmorin & Co [gardeners in Paris, France] in Quai de la Megisserie in Paris will receive the packages and pay the freight; the matter is urgent due to the 'very serious loss we are sustaining by this unfortunate blockade'
