Postmarked ('London 10 Jan 1839'). The letter includes the remnants of an opened seal. Marked 'copy'
They have received a letter by HM packet [ship] Sheldrake from the Horticultural Society of London, addressed to McCalmont, Lyall & Co [merchants in Mexico], enclosing letters from Messrs W. Broad & Sons [merchants] of Falmouth; they enclose both letters; they request confirmation that application was made to all the commanders of packets to take the boxes of plants for the Horticultural Society, and that requests were refused due to lack of space
