Written from Falmouth
They acknowledge receipt of a letter dated 19 Feb; the eight cases have been left with the agents of the Dublin and London Steam Co; Lieutenant Luce [captain of the Penguin] is not permitted by the Admiralty regulations to take payment, but 'a present is usually made to the steward in such cases'; they thanked Lieutenant Luce on behalf of the Society, since the eight boxes are so large; box No 10 was 'falling to pieces', and they have carefully taken the contents out and replaced the plants; expenses, including postage to and from Tampico [Mexico], Custom House fees and repairs, amount to £2 1s 3d
