They acknowledge receipt of a letter dated 16 Feb; they enclose their statement of disbursements [enclosure not present], with a balance of £60 5s in favour of Messrs Baring Brothers & Co [merchant bank in London]; the tin box from Mr Hartweg [Theodor Hartweg] arrived on 21 Mar and was sent to Vera Cruz [Veracruz, Mexico] on the same day to be forwarded by the steamer leaving 1 Apr; the delay must be due to 'some irregularity' on the steamer, and they will make further enquiries in Vera Cruz
