Joseph Sabine says that Forbes' letter written on Monday did not arrive until today, when Forbes is supposed to sail, but as the wind is 'adverse', he sends with this letter a letter for Sacramento [Leandro do Sacramento, Carmelite friar and botanist in Brazil] and two letters that have arrived for Forbes; he will send the 'pins' to Sacramento another time; he received a letter from Lord Bathurst, the secretary of state [Henry Bathurst, 3rd third earl of Bathurst, British secretary of state for war and colonies] to Lord Charles Somerset [Charles Henry Somerset, governor of the Cape Colony, South Africa]; he is afraid of it getting lost, and will forward it 'by some other channel'
