He is sending a copy of the dimensions of the pines of which the Society has a specimen; the actual measurement of the largest was 227 feet length with a girth of 159 feet, 7 ½ feet from the ground; the average size is six feet in diameter and 160 feet in height; he is uncertain about the age, having been unable to prepare a sufficiently polished section to determine the number of annual layers accurately
