Scope & content
Written from Regent Street [London]
Douglas reminds Sabine of his request for £40 in advance of salary to enable him to prepare for the journey; he enquires whether the Society will pay for his lodging or part of it, the sum total being £24 10s at 5s per week; he gave Sabine a list of required items for approval, but forgot to add a small microscope and a small box for keeping his letters and instructions in; a leather desk or box would be less likely to break, while a wooden one would be too heavy; otherwise he has everything he requires for the journey for collecting and arranging plants and seeds; he does not know yet when he will sail or where he will stay
