The notes were re-arranged in alphabetical order during cataloguing in 2019. A previous attempt at re-arrangement and re-packaging had been made, obscuring any other potential original order of the notes. These notes were likely to have been written by Douglas following his second journey
The notes of plants collected by Douglas include descriptions of characteristics, habitat, general notes and references to other authorities, arranged by genus. The list includes 106 genera, comprising 538 species
