Written from Shelford, Cambridgeshire. Manuscript
He wishes he were going with Maw [to Tangier, Morocco]; he only received Maw’s card yesterday and does not know whether Maw set off last Wednesday or is due to leave the Wednesday coming; if this reaches Maw in time he asks for Iris tingitana, Iris filifolia and ‘Iris filifolia latifolium’ [Iris filifolia var. Latifolia]; Maw’s visit will relieve Mr Horace White [Horace Philips White, British consul at Tangier] of his difficulty finding the bulbs; he asks Maw to convey his gratitude for Mr White’s efforts; he will gladly receive any new Iris that Maw finds. Dated 26 Oct, no year [1883; the subject matter matches letters written in 1883]
