He thanks Maw for returning his key; he has a duplicate and knew it was safe with Maw; he has been thinking about the [memorial] tablet for his wife [Frances Harriet Hooker, died 1874], and he thinks that the lilies could be done in the same work as the border; he asks if the high glaze will reflect too much of the light from the church windows, and whether it will be in harmony with the border, which he understands will not be glazed; he does not like to interfere, and Palgrave [Reginald Palgrave, potter, Hooker’s cousin, who designed memorial tablets for Hooker’s father and wife] is ‘so anxious and timid and so earnest and good’ that he does not want to make any suggestion to him
