The second and third orchids are probably Liparis selligera [Liparis plantaginea], but it is hard to say without habitat; the fourth is Gongora galeata; he thanks Maw for his congratulations, and he looks forward to having a wife and mother again in the house, as six children with no female guide is difficult, though they are very well behaved [Hooker married Lady Hyacinth Jardine in 1876]; the lilies have been a failure, both in the beds and conservatory, and he despairs
