He thanks Maw for his offer of the drawing of Crocus gargaricus, but thinks that Maw’s work should have as many previously unfigured species as possible and as such does not want to publish any in the ‘Botanical Magazine’ before Maw has published them himself; he would be glad to have the Chionodoxa; Crewe [Henry Harpur Crewe, rector of Drayton Beauchamp, Buckinghamshire] tells him that Maw has abandoned his planned trip to Cyprus, which he is sorry about as it would have been ‘a godsend’
