Scope & content
Written from Dangstein, Petersfield. Manuscript
Maw’s gifts, which she shall ‘prize more than anything’, have not yet arrived; she has been every day to the station; she is greatly looking forward to receiving them; tomorrow she goes to Madresfield, Great Malvern, so will not see them until she returns; they will do well as ornaments in her small room in London, which she is going to fix up; she asks if Maw is going to the fruit show at Ghent on the 20th, as they and Dr Hogg [Robert Hogg, botanist] are going; Mr Nevill [Reginald Henry Nevill, her husband] is grateful for Maw’s pamphlets, which he has read with great interest; she has just heard that the vases are at the station; the plant will be taken out and the vase left until she returns, when she will write again. Dated 30th [30 Aug 1875; the Ghent Fruit or Pomological Show took place in Sep 1875]
