He received Don's letter of 11 Apr with an account of the box Don sent to Liverpool by the Stockton; there is little chance Don will receive this at Trinidad but he hopes he will as it will be pleasing for Don to know how happy they are with the collections Don has sent; he will write more in a letter to await Don at Jamaica; the boxes sent by the James have been unpacked and examined and prove that he has been diligent and judicious in his collections; Mr Lindley [John Lindley, assistant secretary of the Horticultural Society of London] has left for Liverpool to meet the Stockton as Sabine does not trust anyone else to open the boxes because, if the contents are in good condition, they will be very precious; he hopes to write to Don at Jamaica with an account of the boxes and of the chest of bulbs from Cape Coast [Ghana], which have not yet arrived; Don's brother [David Don] and others are well; he urges Don to send plenty of granadilla[?] [?passion fruit] from Trinidad
