Scope & content
Written from Munstead Wood, Godalming, [Surrey]. Manuscript\r\nJekyll is glad the drive planting looks prosperous; she invites Brand, ‘please always ask questions’; she has no thrift for kitchen garden edgings but recommends London pride, of which she would need 330 plants; she can supply these for 14s; Slocock may have sent Brand Skimmia japonica instead of Skimmia japonica ovata; the moss on Brand’s borders is probably due to the unusually wet few months they have had, and Jekyll recommends how to treat it; she specifies Sutton’s seeds that will be most like the snapdragons and marigolds Brand has had from her; she hopes Brand eats the pignuts which are excellent; she asks if Brand knows the merits of the American pecan nut; Jekyll has just been sent some and would like to introduce her to them.
