He believes that the flexure in Maw’s dead animals results from the muscles being stronger on the left side, which is odd, and refers him to Linnaeus’ work on Canis familiaris; his son George [George Darwin], at Trinity College, Cambridge, once tested the difference in strength between each leg of a group of boys and he could procure his notes; he thanks Maw for sending a specimen of his monograph on Crocus [a work in progress at this time], which should arrive tomorrow
